Water-soluble films are specialised packaging materials that dissolve completely in water. Our films are soluble in both cold and hot water, making them suitable for a wide range of packaging applications, for example pre-dosed cleaning products and water-soluble portion packs.
Our water-soluble films are manufactured using two modern production processes. Blow extrusion is carried out on 12 production lines with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes, while cast extrusion is carried out on 9 production lines with a total capacity of 7,000 tonnes. These different production processes enable consistent quality and allow the water-soluble films to be manufactured according to the requirements of the respective application.
Depending on the application, our water-soluble films are available in various versions. These include single-layer and multilayer films as well as different film thicknesses and formats. Depending on the version, the films can also provide barrier properties against oxygen and moisture.
The water-soluble films can be used for a variety of applications, including cleaning products, agricultural packaging, medical products and portion packs. The material structure, film thickness and format are tailored to the requirements of the respective application.

Water solubility and biodegradability are different properties. When the water-soluble film comes into contact with water, it dissolves. Any subsequent biodegradation of the dissolved components is a separate process and depends, among other factors, on the material and the respective environmental conditions. Water solubility alone therefore does not mean that a film is completely biodegradable.
Depending on the type, the film dissolves on contact with cold, warm or hot water. The exact dissolution temperature can be adjusted depending on the area of application.
